Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone who uses OfficialPath, including account owners, verified contacts, and residents communicating through a facility-approved channel. Using the service means agreeing to these rules. We may hold, block, or review any message that appears to violate them.
1. Allowed
- Personal and family communication with a verified, approved contact.
- Message drafting help, setup support, and refund or dispute assistance.
- Educational use of Legal + Learning — public case-law explanation, statutes, GED, ESL, reentry, and similar guidance.
2. Not allowed
- Messaging anyone who has not verified and been approved as a contact.
- Attempting to reach victims, witnesses, jurors, co-defendants, law-enforcement, or facility staff through the service.
- Coded, disguised, or filter-evading messages; threats, harassment, intimidation, or witness pressure.
- Contraband, escape, or security-sensitive content; fraud, financial crime, or anything unlawful.
- Requests for people lookup, sealed records, betting lines, crypto or stock instructions, or unrestricted web access.
3. Safety review
Messages may be screened by automated guardrails and, where needed, human review. Content that appears unsafe, unlawful, manipulative, coded, or policy-violating may be blocked or held. See our AI & Guardrails Policy for how this works.
4. Consequences
Violations may result in held messages, a paused or blocked route, account suspension, and where appropriate, notification to the facility. You are responsible for the content you send.
