Privacy Policy

OfficialPath (“OfficialPath,” “we,” “us”) operates an assigned-number text-messaging service that helps approved friends and family stay in contact with an incarcerated loved one through facility-approved communication systems. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name, email address, and mobile number, used to create and secure your account.
- Verification details — the phone numbers of approved contacts, the name and identifying details of the incarcerated individual, and the facility information needed to set up and maintain routing.
- Payment details — processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Support messages — anything you send us when you contact support.
Information from your use of the service
- Message data — to deliver texts, we process message content, timestamps, sender/recipient numbers, and delivery and route status.
- Technical data — device type, browser, IP address, and basic usage activity, used for security and reliability.
2. How we use information
- Provision and operate your assigned number and verify approved contacts.
- Route messages through the appropriate facility-approved system.
- Process billing, including activation-based and route-paused billing.
- Provide support, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.
- Comply with law and with the rules of the receiving facility.
3. How we share information
- Service providers — payment processing (Stripe), message delivery (telecom carriers and messaging providers), and hosting, each only as needed to run the service.
- Correctional facilities and their approved vendors — to route messages and comply with facility requirements.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, legal process, or to protect against harm.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Facility monitoring — important
Messages delivered to an incarcerated individual are subject to the receiving facility’s own monitoring, recording, and retention policies. Those policies are set and controlled by the facility, not by OfficialPath, and may apply regardless of the settings in your OfficialPath account. Do not assume any message is private from the facility.
5. Data retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for any additional period required to meet legal, billing, security, or facility-compliance obligations. After that, we delete or de-identify it.
6. Your choices
- Access, update, or request deletion of your account information by emailing support@officialpath.com.
- Cancel your subscription at any time from your account or by contacting support.
- Some records may need to be retained where the law or a facility requires it; we’ll tell you if that applies.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
You must be at least 18 to create an OfficialPath account. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the “last updated” date above; significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
